January 23, 2012 - 08:11 PM Deborah Walder (nee Smee) - dwalder19@btinternet.com Sorry that should have been the Anchor not the Angel. James was a farm labourer and the last census entry for him lists him as blind and living at the Anchor. His son (another James) went on to become a groom at a house in Bentley/Binsted and appeared to drop the "th" from Smeeth to become James Smee. Ironically I live in Kent where we have a village called Smeeth and also where my parents lived in Allington, Maidstone there is a close named Froyle Close! Twilight time. Happy to hear from any other Smeeth/Smee family. Debs IP : 86.179.171.229 |
