The Froyle Archive has been helping the Church Textile Group by creating them their own website - you can follow the work in progress here. On one visit the ladies of the group mentioned the discovery of some documents when what they thought was a table, collapsed, and turned into an old storage settle.
The seat revealed two opening lids to a storage compartment which held some Bibles and Prayer Books as well as a bag with documents going back to the 1940s and before. There was also the picture of St Mary’s in 1864 in a wooden frame.
Amongst the documents was a transcript of the will of John Motte for 1383 and the will of James Messenger from 1913 which has a bequest for the Bellringers!
