Nancietta Mutti
Nancietta Mutti

The Rev. Wright described her as “.....an Italian child, Nancy to whom I became a guardian and who is now married and has a group of boys herself in the north of England.”
Thanks to Matt Walker we now know that she was Nancietta Mutti. The picture (above) of her is from a family album which Matt has scanned for us. The original - this is a selected area - is a paper print mounted in the album and dated 1889. The full frame is shown below.

This photograph (above) was taken earlier in September 1884 and shows Nancietta (centre) with (possibly) her sister Maria (left) and brother Peter (right). We think the location is in the hopfields between Binsted and Wyck
Nancietta (right) with the Rev. A E Wright
Our final picture from the album is captioned 1892 and shows Nancietta (right) with the Rev. A E Wright outside a building that is (so far) unidentified. We do not know who the rather severe lady in the wheelchair is, or the name of the maid/housekeeper.
The Froyle Archive is most grateful to Matt Walker for this wonderful peep into life in the area at the end of the 19th century.
