The Rev. Wright described her as “.....an Italian child, ‘Nancy’ to whom I became
a guardian and who is now married and has a group of boys herself
in the north
of England.” |
This photograph (above) was taken earlier in September 1884 and shows Nancietta (centre) with (possibly) her sister Maria (left) and brother Peter (right). We think the location is in the hopfields between Binsted and Wyck |

Our final picture from the album is captioned 1892 and shows Nancietta (right) with the Rev. A E Wright outside a building that is (so far) unidentified. We do not know who the rather severe lady in the wheelchair is, or the name of the maid/housekeeper. The Froyle Archive is most grateful to Matt Walker for this wonderful peep into life in the area at the end of the 19th century. |
